If you believe in a god or gods, then you have a bit of a problem. You either believe that your god exists and that the writings in your holy text of choice are the inerrant words of your god, or you don't believe that. If the latter, then what's your position and how do you rationalize your cherry-picking? If the former, then you have no choice but to follow the instructions of the holy text of your choice to the very letter. And that would make you a fundamentalist, right
There lies the nub of the problem. Now you have decided that your god speaks the "truth", it is your duty to install this "truth" into our society. We must burn witches, execute homosexuals, women should be subservient to men, etc...
I would like to make it clear that I hold absolutely no respect for your religious beliefs and hold firm that religion is to be criticized and mocked at every opportunity. Religion and magical thinking is a curse on our global society and should not be tolerated to impose laws, judgments or morality upon anyone. Sure, believe what you like, but you have no right to impose those beliefs on anyone because it is your personal faith and you believe that you are working for god. You are delusional and dangerous and must not be tolerated.
God and faith is a subjective opinion at best. You may feel with all of your being that there is a god and that you know what your god wants of you and society, but apart from that feeling, you have nothing else other than a holy book that also claims to be in the inner-circle of knowing what your god wants.
I place your god in the same realm as ghosts, pixies, goblins, unicorns, trolls, Zeus, Thor, the tooth fairy, Santa Claus, and all other mythological inventions that our evolved brains can muster.
